Contact
I love getting your letters. One of the best things about being a YA writer is the lovely mail I get. Thank you!
However:
Do not write asking for ARCs (advance reader copies also known as galleys) of my books. I don’t have any. Contact publicity at Allen & Unwin email addresses can be found at this link (Australia) or Bloomsbury (USA): childrens DOT publicity AT bloomsburyusa DOT com. There’s no guarantee they’ll give you one. Not many are printed and they run out fast.
You’ll also need to contact publicity if you want me to do an appearance. I don’t go anywhere they don’t send me. (Well, you know, except for holidays and that.)
I cannot read your manuscript or do your homework for you. Here’s why.
If you want writing advice I’ve probably already answered your question here or here. Do read these before writing to me. Thanks. You could also ask your question on my writing FAQ. I tend to answer questions there much faster than ones sent directly to me.
If you have any other questions do please check the FAQs first. I am disinclined to answer questions I have answered multiple times. Again I answer the questions asked on the FAQ pages faster than I answer email queries. I’ve also been known to answer questions on Twitter.
Contact info for my agents is below. They should be contacted for all business and rights queries.
And here at last is how to contact me about all other matters:
My agent is:

- NaNo Tip No. 20: Don’t Wait for the Muse to Strike
It’s day twenty and I’ve seen some talk on NaNoNoWriMo blogs of muses showing up or, more often, not. I’m sure for some of you muses are a very useful metaphor for your creative process. However, sitting on your arse waiting for them to show up? Frequently not a good approach to actual writing.
