Brrrr
Wow, it’s cold here in NYC. Must be close to time for me to rack off back to Sydney where it’s heap big much warmerness. But of course I’m doing my usual thing of being completely besotted with the place I’m in and not wanting to leave.
So here’s a short list of things I love about NYC:
- The crystalline light in Autumn (I’m betting Margo’s against crystalline)
- Getting to wear a hat and coat and scarf
- Hearing two perfectly civilised people come close to killing each over who has dibs on a cab
- Being able to hang out with some of the best writers in the business pretty much any day of the week
- Watching steam rise up through the street
- Being able to order awesome food to come to my house any hour of the day or night
New York may be way too cold right now. But it’s also inhale-and-hold beautiful. Sometimes I wish I could stay just a little bit longer.

Lucy Anne Says:
Ah, but it’s not waiting for a way to get to work during a transit strike cold yet. And we’re months away from needing to dig out from the snow. The folks who hide in other states don’t usually start heading out until next month, so you’ve got time.
Besides, this weekend is Open House New York (http://www.ohny.org/weekend/listings.cfm). So you get to look inside Chelsea Market and visit the Rockefeller Center Rooftop Garden and things. So you can’t leave yet. It’s research.
