International Blog Against Racism Week
I’ve swiped the following announcement from Oyceter, coffeeandink and Rachelmaninja over in livejournal land. If you want to take part here’s what to do:
- Announce the week in your blog.
- If you have an livejournal account you can switch your default icon to either an official IBAS icon, or one which you feel is appropriate. To get an official IBAS icon, you can make up of your own or ask
oyceter to do so as she has agreed to be the Official Iconmaker of the Revolution, or hop over to her LJ and pick up one of the general-use ones she’s put up. - Post about race and/or racism: in media, in life, in the news, personal experiences, writing characters of a race that isn’t yours, portrayals of race in fiction, review a book on the subject, etc.
Inaugural posts are here, here, and here. And they are all mighty fine.
I’m going to do my damnedest to do no. 3 some time this week–deadline allowing. In the meantime here’s hoping you lot take part as well.
Now, back down the coal mine goes me.

Lily C: Thanks. That’s the third of the links in the actual post. Brilliant, isn’t it?

That how to suppress discussions of racism is totally hilarious. I also like the Rachel Manija thing about TV shows. Thanks for the link, Dr. Larbalestier.
