You're kidding, right? The newspaper coverage here in the US of women's sport is awful. The New York Times doesn't even bother to send reporters to the New York Liberty's (women's basketball) away games, relying on scanty AP reports. The description of home games where they do bother is not much better than the AP coverage.

I'll agree that the TV coverage is better. Some women's basketball games are televised. But in the US they have so many TV stations that they televise every known sport in all variations from preschool up!

actually dear, women's sport gets a lot more coverage in Australia than it does in the UK, though the BBC have been quite good.

sadly the Amercians are better than both of us, though with the women's soccer league i can no longer watch the cyberrays on tv.

Honey,

 Go here
http://www.sportingstreams.com/sport/
You can get the Ashes here. I have been waking up at 4:30 in the morning to watch the games and I belong to neither country.

And do you know how many Australians are aware of the women's stellar record? And how much better it is than the men's? Very, very few.

Women's sport in Australia (and here in the US) with the exception of tennis and the Olympics gets bugger all coverage. I suspect the picture is similar in the UK. Drives me insane.

Here's hoping the English women get some decent press coverage out of it.

actually I think it is the first time that anyone has beaten australia in 21 years. the last time england's women beat australia was in 1963. or at least that's what I gathered from blofeld and co. that's a better record than dave langford!
